. . . a fun adventure for the serious young actor!
ActorQuest is exactly what it sounds like, a quest for young, aspiring actors! So often WonderQuest and GTA have too few children's roles and so are never able to cast as many young actors who audition as they would like to. But now, here is the perfect opportunity for young actors to get the training needed to make them stand out, and to have fun doing it!
Performing and Learning . . . .
ActorQuest is a 4-6 week program which meets 2-3 times a week and culminates in a fun performance for family and friends.
ActorQuest holds open auditions for young people ages 8-14 every January. Those cast (usually 8-15 children per session) will rehearse a classic story while learning the fundamentals of professional actor technique and training.
Performances are directed by upcoming new directors (usually Brenau University theatre majors) under the hands-on supervision of WonderQuest Director Gay H. Hammond. Performances are supported with costumes and lights by GTA, and have been performed in both Pearce Auditorium and the Hosch Theatre (both on Brenau campus).
ActorQuest Actors frequently go on to perform on the WonderQuest and Gainesville Theatre Alliance mainstage.
Past Performances . . .
. . . have included SIDEWAYS STORIES FROM WAYSIDE SCHOOL by Louis Sachar, MANY MOONS by James Thurber, THE PRINCESS & THE PEA, written and directed by Liz Brendel, and THE PAPER BAG PRINCESS.
Directors have included WonderQuest regular Amelia Hammond and GTA graduates Briston Chester, Amanda Rowell, and Siobhan Collins.
Performances are followed by a "Meet the Cast" reception with refreshments -- which allow young stars to thank their fans for attending!
