College Degree Programs

This extraordinary alliance between Brenau University and Gainesville State College focuses on individualized training, while emphasizing strong ensemble and support.  GTA combines challenging course work (ACE Award for Academic Excellence) with a quality production program (ACTF National Finalist).

We believe in self-motivated individuals who will be open to learning both on AND off the stage, in all areas of our field.  We believe in working hard in a practical craft.  We believe in the educated artist.

Degrees Offered

Students in our program have several degree options through both GAINESVILLE STATE COLLEGE and BRENAU UNIVERSITY.

AT GAINESVILLE STATE COLLEGE:
B.F.A. in Design & Technology for Theatre (new for Fall 2008!)
A.A. with an emphasis in Theatre
      Certificate in Technical Theatre
AT BRENAU UNIVERSITY:
      B.A. in Theatre
      B.F.A. in Musical Theatre
B.F.A. in Arts Management, Theatre Emphasis
      M.A.T. in Theatre Education

GTA provides our students with a wide variety of challenging courses in our craft.  Theatre majors from both institutions take classes together, on both campuses, as well as work together on all production projects.
Classes are taught by both our resident faculty and by our exciting roster of Professional Guest Artists. At GTA, we believe that the strongest theatre artist is one who has a working knowledge of ALL aspects of production and theory. For that reason, actors are expected to serve their turns on running crews, and to be proficient in stagecraft.  Technicians are required to take Acting I, and all theatre majors are encouraged to select electives from history, literature, music and art.
